Soft Ginger Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cup butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 egg,
- 2 tsp powdered ginger
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp ground allspice
- 5 cup sifted flour
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 4 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup chopped nuts
Instructions
- cream butter and sugar til light and fluffy
- add molasses and egg, mix til well blended
- sift spices and 2 cups flour. add to cream mixture, alyternating with boiling water
- add another cup of flour and mix well
- sift remaining two cups of flour with baking soda and salt
- by hand, stir in flour mixture
- stir in the nuts
- drop by tablespoons several inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet
- bake at 375F for about 10 minutes
